Hurricane Barry nears landfall along the coast of Louisiana.
Hurricane Barry nears landfall along the coast of Louisiana.

Below is an 8-day satellite loop of Hurricane Barry. This was an unusual storm as Barry started out as a non-tropical low that progressed eastward across the US, eventually tracked southward around the east side of an upper-level ridge into the Gulf of Mexico, developed into a Hurricane, and then tracked northward again into Louisiana.

The satellite imagery is a composite of both visible and IR bands from GOES 16. The imagery is darker at night because the visible portion of the composite fades out.
